A message from the President
Time flies when you are having fun and business is
booming!!! Here we are at the end of the
second quarter of 2012 already. Going in
to the office this year, I thought that my greatest challenges would be finding
the time that it takes to lead, plan meetings, and attend the various events
related to Women’s Council. Boy was I
wrong. My biggest challenges are related
to meeting the needs of my clients in this robust market.
Heading into our trip to our Mid-Year NAR/WCR meeting in
Washington DC, I was stressed. Getting
away from the office was a great antidote to my work hysteria. Whatever you think about government and
politics, you will likely agree that Washington DC is one of the most beautiful
cities in the world. The monuments and
green spaces are abundant. Kim, Theresa
and I ventured onto the subway from our host hotel then hopped on bikes to see
the sites. The weather was glorious and
we espied many fellow Realtors in town for the convention and Realtor
Rally. I hope that you will consider
the advantages of being an officer of our local chapter so that you will have a
chance to attend some of these events.
Our meetings are filled with relevant classes and networking
opportunities, and you will experience places that you may not get to very
often.
Our diversity panel in April was very interesting. I think in the end many of us determined that
we are not so different after all. Being
a good listener and having respect always seems to be in order no matter what
your client’s cultural background. In
June, we were fortunate to hear Bernadette Hurley speak about setting goals and
looking at your potential beyond what you thought you could accomplish. I certainly did not anticipate the increase
in the level of my production this year and I am hearing the same from many of
my peers. I definitely need to set
higher goals in the future.
Next month we take our monthly Business Resource Meeting to
Constellation Field, home of the Sugar Land Skeeters! This will be a casual event, so feel free to
come in your shorts and ball caps.
Nominations are being accepted for our 2013 Executive
Board. You may send your nominations to
Lane Pearson.
“Thank you” to all of you who support our chapter. It really takes a village to keep the wheels
turning. I hope that you are looking
forward to seeing all of the benches and barstools that our artists have been
working on. We will be getting photos
out in the near future and displaying some of them around Fort Bend County.
Please note that we will be meeting with HAR in
August. We will serve as hosts and need
your help volunteering.
Gratefully Yours,
Barbara
