WCR Fort Bend gathers at Christian Brothers Automotive in Sugar Land.  Many thanks to our host Kelly Adams of Christian Brothers for hosting our event and providing a workspace, power and her own hard work!

WCR Fort Bend donates 50/50 proceeds to the Heart of Texas Chapter

Our January meeting included a 50/50 drawing.  Proceeds were donated to the Waco "Heart of Texas" chapter.

Hi everyone,

I wanted to let you know how excited and appreciative the Heart of Texas chapter was.  The president started opening the envelopes and tears were running down her face.  She went to her treasurer and started showing her one check after the other the treasurer said they were down to $28 after the luncheon expense and her VPM said well I hadn’t told you yet but the flowers cost $35 so we are in the hole, they were jumping up and down.  It was very rewarding to watch how happy and excited they were.

WCR Fort Bend Project Day Sunday January 30th!

Sunday January 30th 1 pm at Christian Brothers Automotive in New Territory
We Need You, bring your friends!

• Bring sanders.... As many as possible.  This is going to be the biggest part of the project with about 200 boards that we need to have sanded.  We have sandpaper –we just need people to bring the corded/cordless sanders.  If anyone has a belt sander, that would be great too.  I do not have paper for a belt sander.
• Drills – I’ve got 3, but we could use more.  
• Extention cords
• Gloves – Some want rubber ones to use at the spray station

Big News for WCR Fort Bend Chapter Members

*Past Presidents Scholarships- Any member of a WCR Texas chapter may apply for Scholarship $.  Deadline to apply is January 31^st.  Please share this information with the members of your chapter and encourage members to apply for the scholarship money available.  Members who travel for your chapter and are not funded or not fully funded are good candidates for the scholarships.  Any questions, contact Carol Reynolds, see attached form for more info.

*  National Recruitment & Retention Contests Underway!- If you are not completely familiar with the contest guidelines, please contact your TDVP right away and we will get you on board!  Cash $$$ prized given by National WCR, as well as lots of points on your Annual Plan for new members:  20 points for each new member between Jan 1 and Feb 28^th and, 15 points for new members turned in to National from March 1^st thru March 31^st.  Prizes and recognition for retaining members as well, so make sure your Membership committee is at work contacting members for renewal.

* Heart of Texas Chapter Charter & Installation Celebration is January 25^th-  Please support the chapter by attending if possible.  *** In 2010, President Deborah asked for chapters to consider helping the HOT chapter by donating funds to HOT.  If your chapter has funds to present, please let me know.  If you are able to attend the meeting, that is wonderful, and if not, would like to recognize the chapters donating to HOT’s success as a new chapter, so please let me know.  Flyer attached with more info and registration info.

* Celebrity Waiters NEEDED for our WCR TEXAS/TREPAC event- This event takes place during our February meetings in Austin.  Date is Friday, 2-11-11, 7pm following Committee Day meetings.  We have 13 participants as Celebrity Waiters so far and need total of 25.  Please consider this FUN opportunity.  Attendees will have the opportunity to purchase TREPAC fun $ to spend at the event that night, purchasing items from waiters, or a photo with a waiter, etc.  This TREPAC fun $ is credited toward their own individual investment with their association.  Circus is the theme and as a waiter, you may dress as any side show, NO PERFORMING on stage by waiters, just raising $ for TREPAC, by selling trinkets, cookies, etc to those present at the event (attendance is usually around 200).  TheWaiters will be introduced, with no requirement at all for doing any type of performance!.  W & M chair John Buchanan has performances already in place.  Super fun event, with little effort to participate!  Those seated at your table will help you raise $ for TREPAC.  There will be prizes for most $ collected, best costume, etc…  See attached flyer and contact John Buchanan for more info.  Please share with members of your chapter AND local board, and encourage participation in this event.  We need your help!!!

Donations to the Fort Bend's Women's Center

At our January meeting WCR Fort Bend hosted a clothing drive for business attire donations for the Fort Bend's Women's Center.

The donations are as follows:

 Blouses 130, Pant suits 28, 3 peice suits 9, Dress pants 81, Jackets 1, 2 piece dress suits 23, womens dress jackets 20, Dresses 12, Purses 2, Shoes 17 pair, Belts 5, Scarfs 4, Skirts 38

Chapter Charter members were recognized.

We have a winner in our 50/50 drawing!  The Waco WCR Chapter received the balance of the drawing.

We kicked off the new year with  reflections of the past. Our honored guests were past presidents of WCR.  

Arlene Rolsen of Coldwell Banker shared her experiences as the 1^st WCR Fort Bend president.  We were introduced to the group of ladies that made the difference in our community by taking the necessary steps to create our chapter.

We introduced FUNd raisers like “Flocking”, “Benches and Bar Stools” and 50/50.

Kimbra V, of Keller Williams sold tickets to a hopeful Aida Younis of Remax Southwest. Kevin Berkebile of Weichert Realtors was the winner of $120.00 and

the shared split went to our new Waco chapter   The spirit of giving superceded the holidays as our generous group opened their closets to provide professional business attire to “Dress for Success”.

Erna Hay and Kaylynn White of Cornerstone Mortgage, always dressed for success, brought quite a bounty!

We ended a successful luncheon with a presentation by Cindy Richert. She brought us tips and talents that will help us be more confident in our appearance and presentations. 

Her company-8 Touches, was bought by R. Donnley!!!!

She understands success and it was gracious of her to share!
