September
September always means WCR/TAR
meetings in San Antonio or Austin. This
year we went to San Antonio. Saba Sharif
joined Barbara, Kim and Theresa to get better acquainted with WCR from the
State level. We began our trip with a
PMN class on Negotiations sponsored by the San Antonio chapter and held at
Champions School of Real Estate. The
class was taught by Becky Hill, former State of Texas and National WCR
President. The meeting was held at the
Hyatt Regency on the River Walk. Jo Ann
Stevens and Joan Berger were also in attendance. We attended sessions on Friday, and attended
a fundraiser on that evening where our group won the costume contest. The
Governing Board meeting on Saturday morning covered Elections of State Chapter
officers. The meeting ended with the installation luncheon for
incoming State President, Sylvia Seabolt.
Our own Cathy Simeone did a beautiful job with the luncheon decorations.
Our September 13, meeting featured
our annual chapter elections. Our nominating committee, headed up by Lane
Pearson, recommended Theresa Fehr, President-Elect, Evelyn Gordon,
Vice-President of Membership, Dawn Spiccia, Secretary, and Andi St. Jean,
Treasurer. In recognition of 9/11/01, we had special
visitors from Impact a Hero, a local organization established to help veterans
who have been seriously injured cope with returning to civilian life. Jim Hoelker, who established the group,
shared a very touching film. In
addition, he brought Army Specialists Dillon Cannon, who led the Pledge of
Allegiance, and share with us what the program has meant for him.
