Ways and Means

Our fundraisers are under way!  The Benches and Barstools have been collected and dispersed into the community.  Mark your calendars for October 6th.  We will display all of the items at Town Center from 5:30-7:30 for a final push.  Please share our Facebook page 2012 Benches & Barstools with all of your Facebook friends.  We have some really beautiful items for bidding.  Five items have been selected to be auctioned live at our October 11th meeting.  Bidders can bid online until midnight on the 10th.  Those high bids will be the starting point for those items on the 11th.  If no one goes any higher, the internet bids will win.  Proxy bids will be taken.

Jo Ann Stevens has been busy putting together our Sweepstakes!  The tickets cost $10 each or 10 for $100.  Prizes include travel, a wine tasting, golf rounds, dining, office supplies, spa and beauty treatments, a Kindle Fire, a $100 gift certificate to Nordstroms, an iPad 3, and some special items that will be auctioned live at the December meeting.  Please ask Jo Ann for tickets to sell.

WCR Fort Bend September Meeting

September

September always means WCR/TAR meetings in San Antonio or Austin.  This year we went to San Antonio.  Saba Sharif joined Barbara, Kim and Theresa to get better acquainted with WCR from the State level.  We began our trip with a PMN class on Negotiations sponsored by the San Antonio chapter and held at Champions School of Real Estate.  The class was taught by Becky Hill, former State of Texas and National WCR President.  The meeting was held at the Hyatt Regency on the River Walk.  Jo Ann Stevens and Joan Berger were also in attendance.   We attended sessions on Friday, and attended a fundraiser on that evening where our group won the costume contest. The Governing Board meeting on Saturday morning covered Elections of State Chapter officers. The meeting ended with the installation luncheon for incoming State President, Sylvia Seabolt.  Our own Cathy Simeone did a beautiful job with the luncheon decorations.

Our September 13, meeting featured our annual chapter elections. Our nominating committee, headed up by Lane Pearson, recommended Theresa Fehr, President-Elect, Evelyn Gordon, Vice-President of Membership, Dawn Spiccia, Secretary, and Andi St. Jean, Treasurer.   In recognition of 9/11/01, we had special visitors from Impact a Hero, a local organization established to help veterans who have been seriously injured cope with returning to civilian life.  Jim Hoelker, who established the group, shared a very touching film.  In addition, he brought Army Specialists Dillon Cannon, who led the Pledge of Allegiance, and share with us what the program has meant for him.

WCR Fort Bend August Meeting

August 16, 2012

In August we met with our Fort Bend HAR Networking group at Sweetwater Country Club.  WCR served as meeting hosts. Vaughan Pedersen and Chis Lesak represented us during the Inspiration and Pledge of Allegiance.  The August meeting featured the four school districts that serve Fort Bend County.  As Realtors, we all know the importance that schools play in determining home values.  We heard representatives from Fort Bend ISD, Katy ISD, Lamar ISD and Stafford Municipal School District.  Theresa Fehr, Vice-President of Membership added three new members during this meeting.  We also brought some of our benches and barstools to display.

July WCR Fort Bend Meeting

July 12, 2012

For our July meeting, we took a field trip and met at Constellation Field, the home of The Sugar Land Skeeters!  The weather did not cooperate, but a good time was had by all who attended.  Our Texas State WCR President, Valois Hounsel made her annual visit.  Valois spoke to us about the importance of member recognition.  Monthly sponsors included Perry Homes, Telfair by Newland Communities and Trendmaker Homes.  Our chapter collected back packs and school supplies for the Fort Bend Women’s Center.  Anne Budill and Vita Goodell from the Women’s Center were in attendance.  We ate in the Legends Club and took a tour of the facility including the home team locker room.  The ball park has been a very successful addition to our community.
We are Skeeter’s proud!
